Receive a reverse shell

Practitioner 20 pts

Goal: Run a listener, make the box connect back to you, and read the implant's key.

Catch the call-back needs a terminal

  1. On your machine, start a listener on a port you can receive on:
    nc -lvnp 4444
    (Optional: also capture it — filter tcp.port == 4444.)
  2. Put that same port here and hit Connect back to me. The device will dial your IP.
  3. Read the reverse-shell key it prints on your listener, then submit it.

The server only ever connects back to your own IP. You must be reachable on that port from the internet — a VPS or cloud box works; behind home NAT you'd need a port-forward. That reachability requirement is why real reverse shells are used.

Hints

Open in order — they nudge, not solve.

Hint 1

Start the listener first: nc -lvnp 4444 (any port you can receive on).

Hint 2

Enter that port in the widget and click Connect back to me — the server dials your IP.

Hint 3

Your listener prints a banner with a reverse-shell key (RSHELL-KEY-…) — that's the answer. Nothing arrives? Your port isn't reachable (NAT) — try a VPS or a forwarded port.
